This comes just days after Scotiabank initially pledged $100,000 in the wake of the devastating wildfires in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

"With the continued devastation in Fort McMurray, Scotiabank will increase its donation to help with the relief efforts in the affected areas."

Scotiabank encouraged Canadians to continue their generosity and donate to the relief efforts at any Scotiabank branch in Canada from Friday, May 6, 2016 - Monday, June 6, 2016. Both original donations and the matching funds will go to the Canadian Red Cross. People are encouraged to let branch know their donation is for the Alberta Fires Appeal.
