Statement on Change to External Complaints Body

We take the concerns of our customers very seriously and we are committed to a thorough review of any instance in which our customers feel we have not met their expectations. Following a review of our complaint resolution process, Scotiabank, including Tangerine, has decided to change its external complaints body from the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI) to ADR Chambers Banking Ombudsman (ADRBO) at the end of our current contract period effective November 1, 2018.

OBSI will continue to be the escalation point for customer complaints for Scotia Securities (including Mutual Funds sold in branches) Scotia Capital, Scotia McLeod, Scotia iTrade, and 1832 Asset Management, Jarislowsky Fraser and Tangerine Investment Funds.

We are consistently looking for ways to improve the Scotiabank customer experience. While this decision was not made lightly, we believe that our customers will benefit from a more streamlined resolution process, including faster response times.
