TORONTO, ON - July 17, 2015 /CNW/ - On Saturday, July 18, the streets of Malvern will be filled with more than 2,000 children adorned in dazzling masquerade costumes. Moving along to pumping Soca, Steelpan and Calypso music, the 2015 Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Junior Carnival Parade will move through the Malvern community in Scarborough, culminating in a Family Day party.

The Junior Carnival Parade will begin at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Malvern Community Centre (30 Sewells Road) and finish at Neilson Park (1575 Neilson Rd). The Family Day party, "Last Lap in De Park," will include popular DJ music and a junior showcase sponsored by the Organization of Calypso Performing Artistes (OCPA). Visitors will revel in Caribbean music, children's activities and a marketplace filled with delicious food, arts, crafts and more.

"The Junior Carnival Parade and Family Day are an integral part of the 3-week Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival. It's an opportunity for children to learn how to play mas and understand the roots of the annual festival, without having to take part in the all-day adult parade on August 1," said Denise Herrera-Jackson, Toronto Caribbean Carnival CEO. "It's exciting to see how the parade is sustained by the enduring involvement and enthusiasm of the youth of today."
