The Countdown Is on for 2016 Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada

Canada's National Celebration of Hockey Is Less Than Two Weeks Away

 

TORONTO, ON - January 27, 2016 /CNW/ - Get ready to lace up your hockey skates Canada because Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is just around the corner! Scotiabank is proud to partner with Rogers for the biggest celebration of hockey on February 6, 2016. Canadians can join the celebrations by attending local events in the host city of Kamloops, B.C., or by watching the broadcast on Sportsnet and CBC featuring four games with all seven Canadian NHL® teams in action. Canadians can also get involved by sharing how they are celebrating using #HockeyDay.

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is the official holiday of Canada's 5th Season -- the hockey season. Celebrations will include a 13-hour broadcast featuring four national games, with broadcast coverage beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET. Visitwww.sportsnet.ca/hockeyday for more information.

The celebrations in the host city of Kamloops will begin a few days prior to Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, with a series of community hockey events including kids' hockey clinics and school visits with NHL Alumni™, and many opportunities to see the Stanley Cup®.

On February 6, Sportsnet's Ron MacLean and Don Cherry will be joined by Scotiabank Teammates Lanny McDonald, Darcy Tucker, Trevor Linden and Cassie Campbell-Pascall and more in Kamloops, B.C., for the 16th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. 

"Hockey teaches kids valuable lessons about the importance of teamwork and how being part of a team is a living example of how we're better together. That is why Scotiabank is proud to support over 5,000 kids' community hockey teams across Canada, including 19 here in Kamloops," said Kevin Rains, Scotiabank Branch Manager in Kamloops. Scotiabank will also be on the ground with two official satellite celebrations for hockey fans in Yorkton, SK, hosting a Community Hockeyfest with NHL Alumnus™ Marty McSorely; and in Saugeen Shores, ON, for the International Girls Silver Stick Caitlyn Cobean Memorial Tournament and the CWHL Game between the Toronto Furies and the Boston Blades.

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada's 16th annual celebration continues an important Canadian tradition.
