Media Advisory: Scotiabank's First Hackathon Kicks Off Friday, Feb 5

TORONTO, ON - February 04, 2016 /CNW/ - This Friday, at Scotiabank's first hackathon, over 150 developers, designers and entrepreneurs will team up on creative solutions to help Canadians better manage debt.

Presented by the Scotiabank Digital FactoryScotiabank Hack IT will take place over 48 hours. Teams will be competing for $25,000 in prizes. The winning teams and other selected participants will also be invited to interview for open positions at the Scotiabank Digital Factory.

Friday, February 5

What: 
Scotiabank Hack IT event kicks off with remarks from organizers to over 100 participants.

Over 100 developers, designers and entrepreneurs

Sunday, February 7

What: 
Expo and Winner Announcement: Teams present their ideas in a science fair style during the first round of judging. The three top teams then present their debt management solutions to the special guest judges. Winners will then be announced, with prizes of $15,000 for first place team and $5,000 for second and third place.

When: 
Expo with first round judging - 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
