Future Hockey Stars Hit the Ice for Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest

BRANDON, MB - February 24, 2016 /CNW/ - Olympian, World Champion and Canadian women's hockey star Cassie Campbell-Pascall will lace up for the 5th Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest in Brandon, and coach 150 young female athletes on Sunday, February 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Westman Communications Group Place -- home of the Brandon Wheat Kings.

"We look forward to celebrating Canada's 5th Season, the hockey season, by bringing Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest back to Brandon this year," said Simone Dixon, Branch Manager at Scotiabank in Brandon. "Scotiabank is proud to provide girls the chance to get up close and personal with their Canadian female hockey heroes at this event, and to help inspire a new generation of girls and young women to reach their goals both on and off the ice."

Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest is available at no cost to girls aged 7-12. With support from Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Hockey Manitoba's elite female hockey players will run on and off-ice training sessions. The day will also include a community outreach component and a keynote address from Cassie Campbell-Pascall on the importance of teamwork and giving back to the community.

"I am excited to be a part of this Scotiabank initiative and proud to be a Scotiabank teammate. Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest is an incredible opportunity to bring together young female hockey players to improve their skills and work towards pursuing their dreams," said Cassie Campbell-Pascall. "I know first-hand how valuable it is to receive support from the hockey community as a young athlete. It helped me get to where I am today, and I'm thrilled to be able to give back through Girls HockeyFest -- and to celebrate Canada's game with these girls who share my love for the game."
