HALIFAX, NS - December 17, 2014 /CNW/ - It's 'game on' in Halifax as tickets are now on sale for feature events during Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, Canada's annual celebration of hockey. Running February 11-14, the community activities and events will celebrate the game across the Halifax region, culminating in an all-day, live NHL® broadcast featuring all seven Canadian teams, produced by Rogers.

This year's Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada festivities are headlined by a series of hockey events, where fans of all ages are encouraged to celebrate our nation's favourite pastime. The event will be televised from Halifax in a 13-hour national broadcast featuring five NHL® games, hosted by Hockey Night in Canada favourites Ron MacLean and Don Cherry as well as other Sportsnet personalities and NHL Alumni™. The broadcast will feature celebrations from across the country, including Ladner, BC, Downsview ON, Chambly QC, as well as a number of Halifax events.

A number of other free, local community activities will also take place over the multi-day hockey celebration including public viewings of the Stanley Cup® and a special day of hockey at the Emera Oval on Saturday, Feb. 14. Hockey fans will enjoy the first shinny tournament ever hosted onsite as well as ice and snow sculptures, a live broadcast onsite with Ron MacLean and coverage of simultaneous NHL® games, and the Valentine's Day Jersey Skate. For the young local hockey players on Saturday, there will be Scotiabank Community HockeyFest, where Scotiabank sponsored minor hockey teams will be coached by NHL Alumni™ coaches. On Sunday, Feb. 15, Rogers Hometown Hockey will continue the celebrations in Cole Harbour -- home of NHL® stars Sidney Crosby and Nathan McKinnon -- where MacLean will host an NHL® broadcast live from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.
Several NHL® stars and sports commentators will be attending select events in Halifax over the five-day celebration, including: Lanny McDonald, Wendel Clark, Darcy Tucker, Mark Napier, Theo Fleury, Ron MacLean, Don Cherry, Cassie Campbell-Pascall and Jennifer Botterill.
Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is a nationally televised event, produced by Rogers Communications. Each year a host city is selected from a number of applicants, with the 2015 event being hosted in Halifax, NS.
