    Scotiabank Named Business of the Year by the Peruvian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce
    TORONTO, ON - January 22, 2014 /CNW/ - The Peruvian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) has named Scotiabank as Business of the Year in Peru. The announcement was made at their Excellence Awards 2014 gala. 
     
    "We are pleased to be recognized as Business of the Year by the Peruvian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce for the strength of Scotiabank's business and commitment to Peru," said Dieter Jentsch, Group Head of International Banking at Scotiabank. "Scotiabank's Latin American operations continue to be a focus for us and Peru is a key market in our growth strategy."

    Scotiabank has been building its business in Peru for the past 17 years and most recently acquired 50% of AFP Horizonte, which was the country's third largest pension fund manager.

    "Scotiabank was chosen as Business of the Year because they have provided a tremendous contribution to the Peruvian market not only in the economic sense but also on the social and community side by supporting a variety of initiatives including charitable and educational programs," said Jim Louttit, President of the Peruvian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

    Through its global philanthropic program, Bright Future, Scotiabank supports communities across Peru. In 
    2013, the Bank gave CAD$900,000 in funds to local charities and employees donated more than 18,000 volunteer hours, dedicating their time to supporting projects across the country.
