TORONTO, ON - June 03, 2015 /CNW/ - The City of Toronto today announced exhibition titles and locations, as well as some of the artists who will present projects at the 10th edition of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche. On Saturday, October 3, more than 130 contemporary art projects will be exhibited across the city for 12 hours from sunset to sunrise.

The 10th edition of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche will feature the following four City-produced exhibitions.

HTUOS/HTRON - The New Coordinates of the Americas
Agustin Pérez Rubio (Buenos Aires), renowned art historian, critic and curator, is curating the exhibition "HTUOS/HTRON - The New Coordinates of the Americas," stretching from the University of Toronto and College Street over to Carlton and Jarvis Streets. Based on a 1943 drawing by Joaquin Torres Garcia, "Inverted America," this exhibition inverts the pan-American peninsula, removes its boundaries, reverses the flow of time and presents 12 projects that subvert the hegemonic geo-political ideology of our time. This exhibition includes Alfredo Jaar (Santiago) with "Music (Everything I know I learned the day my son was born)" and Tania Brugera (Havana) with "Tatlin's Whisper, 2015."

Black and White Night
Internationally acclaimed artist JR (New York/Paris) presents the event's first-ever artist exhibition "Black and White Night" with the majority of projects featuring Torontonians located in and around City Hall and down Bay Street. Projects include "Inside Out," which has become a social phenomenon worldwide and the Canadian premiere of JR's new film "Les Bosquets," which is a personal, in-depth exploration of one of his first exhibitions "Portrait of a Generation."

The Work of Wind
Christine Shaw (Toronto), director/curator of the Blackwood Gallery and lecturer at the University of Toronto Mississauga, is curating the exhibition "The Work of Wind," in which the Beaufort Scale of Wind Force becomes a diagram of prediction and premonition of the 21st century. Thirteen projects unfurl the 13 forces, from 0 (Calm) to 12 (Hurricane), along the waterfront (between York Street and Parliament Street), creating an operatic experience of the elemental forces, compositional forms and geopolitical processes of our contemporary times. Artists in this exhibition include Mary Mattingly (New York) with "Torus" and Los Carpinteros' (Havana and Madrid) with "Frio Estudio del Desastre (Frozen Study of Disaster)."

Memory Lane
In honour of the event's 10th edition, photographer, director and curator Che Kothari (Toronto/LA) presents "10 for 10th - Memory Lane." This exhibition features 10 projects spread throughout the city in partnership with 10 cultural organizations and explores the textured terrain of memory, dissolving the lines between space, place and time. It allows for contemplation and reflection while providing fertile ground for the creation of millions of new memories in the process. Artists and partners include Faisal Anwar (Oakville) with "Up in the Sky High" at Artscape Wychwood Barns and Ekow Nimako (Toronto) with "Silent Knight" at the Gardiner Museum.

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche's independent projects are also responding to Kothari's "Memory Lane" curatorial theme and are located around the exhibitions and other neighbourhoods throughout the city.

Select projects from the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche all-night event will remain on view to the public through Thanksgiving weekend to Monday, October 12.
