REGINA, SK - April 25, 2014 /CNW - The Peewee Tier 2A Mustang hockey team received an unforgettable surprise today when the iconic Stanley Cup® was brought to their local arena during a team celebration.
"We are excited to bring the Stanley Cup to the Peewee Tier 2A Mustang team as part of the Scotiabank Surprise & Delight campaign," said Angie Watson, Scotiabank Branch Manager. "The Stanley Cup is a great example of what can be accomplished through hard work, sportsmanship and determination. We are proud to recognize the Mustangs for what they have achieved as a team, both on the ice and off through their volunteer work."
The Peewee Tier 2A Mustang team is supported by the Scotiabank Community Hockey Sponsorship Program, which supports over 5,000 minor hockey teams in communities across Canada.
After being surprised by the Stanley Cup in their locker room, the team was treated to a special photo session and family skate at their arena, followed by a post-skate reception which gave the kids a chance to get up-close to the iconic trophy. The team was also given wristbands featuring the tag #scotiahockey to wear as a reminder of their efforts of giving back to the community this year.
Scotiabank has been collecting stories of teams giving back to their community submitted through social media tagged with #scotiahockey.
