Action/Adventure Tops Canadians' Film Choice This Summer Reveals New Poll

Scotiabank Brings Free Movies (and a Lot of Nail-Biters) to Canadians This Summer With National Tour of 32 Outdoor Movie Events

TORONTO, ON - June 26, 2014 /CNW/ - On July 2, Scotiabank will officially launch the "Scotiabank® presents" Outdoor Movie Festival, that will give over 60,000 Canadians the chance to see their favorite films for free, under the stars. In addition to enjoying a free movie, the 22 per cent of Canadians who selected action/adventure as their favorite film genre are in luck, with classics such as Jurassic Park and The Avengers hitting the big outdoor screen.

The series will kick-off its first night in Regina on July 2nd, followed by evening events throughout the summer in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. All dates, locations and movie selections can be seen atwww.scotiabank.com/outdoormovies.

For the 20 per cent of Canadians who prefer comedy movies or the 11 per cent of fantasy fans, the series will have something for everyone to enjoy.

"Our goal with this national outdoor movie series is to provide all Canadians with the 'feeling of free' that Scotiabank® SCENE®*cardholders experience year round," said Jacqueline Ryan, Vice President of Sponsorships and Partnerships Programs at Scotiabank. "Through our partnership with Cineplex Entertainment Theatres®^ and our SCENE®* program, we are able to offer Canadians the Scotiabank® SCENE®* Debit or SCENE®* VISA* card programs, which provide cardholders the ability to earn FREE movies and more faster just by making their everyday purchases with their Scotiabank® SCENE®* cards. We hope to spread this message to movie-lovers across Canada so they can experience the 'feeling of free' year round with great movies available at Cineplex theatres -- from comedy to drama and everything in between."

Movie-goers are invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets, and to sit back and relax under the stars with family and friends, and enjoy great movies projected on a 40-foot outdoor movie screen. Attendees will experience all the perks that are available to Scotiabank® SCENE®* members year round through the SCENE®* program. Not only will attendees be treated to a free movie, but the first 300 entrants will receive complementary popcorn. Each event will also feature VIP seating available to the first 50 Scotiabank SCENE®* Debit and SCENE®* VISA* cardholders who show their cards.
