Special Appearance by John Lofranco of Athletics Canada to Announce the Official Pan Am Games Marathon Qualifying Standards
TORONTO, ON - September 16, 2014 /CNW/ - In just over a month, on October 19, more than 25,000 runners from over 60 countries will lace up for the 25th Anniversary edition of the 2014 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Among them will be a number of Canada's top marathoners, who will be racing for men's and women's national records. The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon provides Canada's best athletes the opportunity to develop their athletic careers at home during Canada's premier, national running event. The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon will also be the number one opportunity for Canadian marathoners to qualify for the Pan Am Games marathons next July.

WHAT:
An opportunity to meet and interview the Canadian stars of this year's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, as well as the exciting announcement of the official Pan Am Games marathon qualifying standards for men's and women's.
WHO:
Lanni Marchant, London, ON native who placed 4th in the 2014 Commonwealth Games marathon and smashed the 28-year Canadian National Women's Marathon Record of 2:28:36, by 36 seconds in the 2013 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Marchant will be one of the most highly anticipated competitors to see cross the finish line. She will talk about the possibility of breaking her national record at the press conference.
Eric Gillis, two-time Olympian from Guelph, ON, hopes to break his personal best of 2:11:28, from the 2011 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
Kate Bazeley, St. John's, NFLD native and exciting new talent, intent on scoring a personal best at this year's marathon, breaking her record of 2:40:49 at the 2014 Houston Marathon, which was her first full marathon.
Kip Kangogo, a Lethbridge, AB resident and one of Canada's top three runners at 10 KM, aims to break his personal best of 2:15:35 from the 2013 Victoria Marathon.
Kim Doerksen, a 23-year-old Burnaby, BC resident, made her impressive marathon debut winning the 2014 Vancouver Marathon with a record of 2:36:59 and hopes to break her personal best at this year's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
Special appearance by John Lofranco of Athletics Canada, who will announce the marathon qualifying standards for next summer's Pan Am Games marathons for men's and women's.
