First Canadian Company to Be Honoured With This Distinction
TORONTO, ON - October 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Scotiabank today became the first Canadian-based company to be named to the "World's Best Multinational Workplaces" list. The 2014 list of 25 companies was announced in an online forum hosted by the Great Place to Work® Institute at 7:00am (PDT) this morning.
The World's Best Multinational Workplaces list was first announced in 2009. Companies are chosen predominantly based on data gathered from employee surveys and direct comments from employees.
"Scotiabank is honoured to be recognized by Great Place to Work® as one of 2014's World's Best Multinational Workplaces," said Brian Porter, President and CEO, Scotiabank. "To be named by an external organization as a great place to work is a compliment, and to have been named to the list because of the comments made by our own employees is a true honour.
"As Canada's most international bank, we are committed to building a platform for a diverse team, ensuring that our leadership team and employees throughout the organization mirror our customers' and communities. This gives us the perspective we need to see our business through our customers' eyes."
The World's Best Multinational Workplaces List recognizes leading workplaces chosen from 45 countries around the world. To qualify for the list, companies, including Scotiabank, were required to feature on at least five Regional Great Place to Work® lists over the last 12 months, have at least 5,000 employees and have at least 40 percent of their workforce located outside the country in which their company is headquartered.
"Wherever you go, Scotiabankers are the same everywhere -- a great group of hard working individuals who come in every day motivated to do their very best and treat everyone with respect," said one Scotiabank employee in the survey data collected. "Scotiabankers are open, honest, welcoming and truly concerned with helping customers to reach their financial goals."
"More than half of Scotiabank's 86,000 employees work outside of Canada," said Porter.
Scotiabank is also proud to have been featured on regional Great Place to Work® lists in Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Puerto Rico.
