"We are looking forward to celebrating Canada's unofficial 5th season, the hockey season, in Brandon as we celebrate the fourth annual Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest in Manitoba," said Simone Dixon, Manager of the Brandon Shoppers Mall Scotiabank branch. "These young future hockey stars are getting a fantastic opportunity to learn hockey skills from the very best. Meaghan is a great example of how much these girls can achieve through hard work and dedication."
Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest Brandon is free to all participants and is open to girls aged 7-12. The day will include on and off-ice training sessions along with a community outreach component and a keynote address from Meaghan on the importance of being part of a team to reach goals. The girls will also get to take photos with the Clarkson Cup, the top award in Canadian women's professional hockey.
"I'm looking forward to coaching the young talented athletes in Brandon at Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest," said Meaghan Mikkelson. "This kind of clinic wasn't something that was around when I first started playing, so I am proud to be a part of this day where the girls can come together to improve their game and also to celebrate hockey!"
