TORONTO, ON - December 01, 2014 /CNW/ - The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) today announced the details of the 6th Annual Scotiabank GTHL Top Prospects Game.

The sixth edition of this annual event will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at Buckingham Arena in Downsview Park and will see the Top 40 Minor Midget aged players participating in a showcase game coached by great NHL alumni. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Rogers TV cable 10/63 in Toronto will air the game on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.

Four celebrity coaches will be behind the benches at this year's event. National Hockey League (NHL) alumni Nick Kypreos andAdam Graves will lead their team against former Toronto Maple Leaf captain Wendel Clark and former NHL coach and general manager Doug MacLean.

"We are honoured to have this group of celebrity coaches involved and we anticipate an exciting game as we have seen for the past five seasons. This will be a great opportunity for these young players to display their talent against the other top players in their age group. They will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience from their coaches who have been in their position before. Tickets are $8.00 in advance or $10.00 at the gate. Advance ticket purchase is recommended to avoid line-ups at the arena. No passes will be accepted.

About the Celebrity Coaches:

Nick Kypreos played minor hockey in the Metropolitan Toronto Hockey League (MTHL, now the GTHL) and played nine NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs, winning the Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994. Kypreos is now a NHL analyst with Sportsnet and co-hosts Hockey Central at Noon on Sportsnet and Sportsnet Radio The FAN 590.

Adam Graves played minor hockey with the Toronto Young Nationals and North York Civics in the former MTHL. Graves was selected 22nd overall in the 1986 NHL Draft and went on to play 17 NHL seasons with four teams, winning the Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers in 1990 and the New York Rangers in 1994. He also won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy (1993-94) and the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (2000-01). Graves now works in Hockey and Business Operations with the Rangers.

Wendel Clark played in 13 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs after being selected first overall by the team in the 1985 NHL Draft. Clark served as Maple Leafs captain for three seasons before being traded to the Quebec Nordiques following the 1993-94 campaign. The Saskatchewan native totaled 330 goals, 564 points and 1,690 penalty minutes in 793 games over 15 NHL seasons.

Doug MacLean has more than two decades of experience in the NHL in a variety of administrative, personnel and coaching capacities with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings. MacLean led the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in both of his full seasons as head coach (1995-96 and 1996-97), including a berth in the 1996 Stanley Cup Final. MacLean received the Hockey News Coach of the Year Award following the 1995-96 season and was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award. MacLean is now a NHL analyst with Sportsnet and co-hosts Hockey Central at Noon on Sportsnet and Sportsnet Radio The FAN 590.
