Scotiabank and MD Financial Management Inc. partner with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada to support specialists and improve women’s health care

Ottawa, August 6, 2021 — Scotiabank and MD Financial Management Inc. (MD) today announce a three-year collaboration with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) that will support the professional development of physicians and healthcare providers dedicated to women’s health.

The agreement, whereby MD and Scotiabank will be the exclusive financial services partners of the SOGC, will enable the development of initiatives that address the growing need for guidance and mentorship, especially during the first five years of practice — a critical transition period for physicians. Women, whose specific health challenges were exposed during the pandemic, will in turn receive better care, touching the lives of all communities.

As exclusive financial services partners of the SOGC, MD and Scotiabank will also offer educational and financial resources tailored to the needs of women’s healthcare providers and their families, helping them reach their personal and career goals.

“Thriving physicians are the cornerstone of quality healthcare,” says Daniel Labonté, MD President and CEO. “We are proud to support the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and provide the resources that will help this vital group of specialists and their families take better control of their finances and reduce stress.”

“We are delighted to partner with Scotiabank and MD to help our members easily access financial services, educational content, advice and financial planning solutions tailored to their specific needs” says Dr. Jennifer Blake, CEO of the SOGC. “By empowering our members to take better control of their finances and reduce their stress, we know they’ll be better equipped to face the unique challenges of women’s health care in Canada.”

As the financial services partners of nearly 30 organizations, including the SOGC, Scotiabank and MD are deeply committed to supporting Canada’s physicians and their families.
