Scotiabank welcomes Benita Warmbold to its Board of Directors

TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2018 /CNW/ - Scotiabank (TSX: BNS) (NYSE: BNS) today announced the appointment of Benita Warmbold to the Bank's Board of Directors.

"Benita Warmbold has an in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, expertise from a global investment management firm and more than 30 years of industry experience," said Thomas O'Neill, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Scotiabank. "She has a proven track record of success and is widely-recognized for her strategic thinking and collaboration-centered work ethic. Benita's long-term vision and demonstrated ability to execute growth-oriented priorities will be an asset to our Board of Directors."

Over her nine years at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), Ms. Warmbold has held a number of portfolios, including: finance, risk, performance, tax, internal audit, legal, technology, data and investment operations.

Prior to joining CPPIB in 2008, Ms. Warmbold held senior leadership positions with Northwater Capital, Canada Development Investment Corporation and KPMG.

Ms. Warmbold has been recognized three times as one of "Canada's Most Powerful Women- Top 100" and in 2016 was inducted into the Women's Executive Network Hall of Fame.

Ms. Warmbold is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and was granted the ICD.D. designation by the Institute of Corporate Directors.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen's University.
