MEDIA ALERT/Photo-Op: Runners taking over Halifax for Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon

Participants expected to raise $600,000 in fundraising for the Scotiabank Charity Challenge

HALIFAX, May 18, 2017 /CNW/ - Spring temperatures are upon us and the sunny weather expected over the weekend will shine over thousands of runners set to take part in the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon. The event, spanning three days, will host 6 fitness events, the largest Active Living Expo in Atlantic Canada, and will also see participants raising funds for local charities.

Located in Halifax on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, the event will welcome nearly 12,000 participants, to one [or two, in some cases] of six fitness events: the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth 2KM and 4KM Run, the Lifemark 5KM – which will also host a Competitive Wheelchair Division (Saturday), the GoodLife FITNESS 10KM, the Blue Nose Half Marathon, the Killam Marathon Team Relay or the Scotiabank Full Marathon (Sunday).

The Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon is one of the first road races of the running season, but has also become one of the most important fundraising events in Halifax through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge, which will be raising funds for 73 local charitable organizations and provides direct support in the community.
