New resume building tool enables biotech professionals to seek industry-specific jobs
TORONTO, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Scotiabank announced a new partnership today with BioTalent Canada to help newcomers become a part of Canada's bio-economy through the launch of the Scotiabank StartRight Biotech Resumé Builder.
The creation of this new online tool was funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. It targets immigrant job seekers and helps internationally educated professionals build a professional, standardized biotech resumé, to optimize their chances of landing a job in the Canadian biotechnology industry.
"Scotiabank is excited to partner with BioTalent Canada and help internationally educated professionals enter the Canadian biotechnology job market," says Winnie Leong, Vice President of Multicultural Banking at Scotiabank. "Biotechnology is a growing sector in Canada that's transforming many of our traditional industries, including manufacturing and forestry. We're proud to enable talented new Canadians to contribute to this growth while building strong careers in their new homes."
For individuals in the biotech industry looking to move to Canada, the Scotiabank StartRight Biotech Resumé Builder is an early step they can take even before they come to Canada. They can define and highlight their job history, skills and education in a way that is the industry standard among Canadian biotech employers.
"As a national organization focused on human resources for Canada's bio-economy we help create the match," says Rob Henderson, President of BioTalent Canada. "The Scotiabank StartRight Biotech Resumé Builder goes further. Through this new tool, immigrants will be better prepared to find work within Canada's diverse and growing bio-economy."
In addition to bringing their skills into the Canadian bio-economy, individuals planning to move to Canada can also get a head start on their financial transition before arriving in the country. The Scotiabank StartRight international account opening program offers individuals from China, India and Mexico the ability to apply for a bank account and credit card before leaving their home country. The Scotiabank StartRight also offers specially designed financial solutions for landed immigrants who have been in Canada up to three years, foreign workers and international students from around the world.
