Scotiabank provides $50,000 for Lac-Mégantic disaster

TORONTO, July 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Scotiabank today pledged a $50,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to support the Lac-Mégantic community, which has been affected by the recent train derailment and resulting disaster.

"Our thoughts are with the community and families of Lac- Mégantic during this difficult time," said Carole Chapdelaine, Scotiabank Senior Vice President, Quebec and Eastern Ontario Region.  "To help with the relief efforts, Scotiabank branches will accept donations for those impacted by this devastating disaster."

Scotiabank branches across Canada will accept donations from July 10-August 9, 2013 for Lac-Mégantic train explosion victims. Funds donated will go towards the Canadian Red Cross response to provide immediate relief to victims, as well as to meet longer-term needs for affected local residents.
