Scotiabank National Game Changer to be announced at the 100th Grey Cup

REGINA, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Regina's Erin Fogarty has been named a Scotiabank National Game Changer Finalist for her passion and dedication to help youth in Saskatchewan. Erin will be recognized on-field at the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto where she could win $100,000 for Street Culture Kidz Project, an organization that mentors and supports Saskatchewan youth.

"This whole experience is really exciting for me personally and, most importantly, for the programs and youth I am so passionate about!" said Erin Fogarty. "It was great to be able to share my game-day experience with some of closest friends and now to be bringing one of them with me to the Grey Cup. Winning this $100,000 dollar donation for Street Culture Kids would allow us to sponsor ten youth positions in our pre-employment skills development program called The Community Project.  This Project helps Street Culture work with youth to give back to the community in which they live and fills a service gap otherwise unmet in the province."

About Erin:

  • Erin is a supervisor at Street Culture's youth shelter; focusing on relationship building and transitioning youth to the next period in their lives.
  • She is involved with more than 20 community groups focused on suicide prevention, poverty reduction, bullying awareness and youth advocacy.
  • Erin started hosting conferences to raise awareness about abuse prevention and started the "Bullying Stops Here" project in 2010.
  • She received the Rachel Davis Award in 2007 for her kindness, compassion and generosity towards others.

Erin is one of eight Scotiabank National Game Changer Finalists, one for every CFL market. The Scotiabank National Game Changer will be announced during the game and broadcast on TSN during the 100th Grey Cup on November 25, 2012.

"There are extraordinary people who do outstanding things for causes in our community every single day," said Robert Taylor, Scotiabank's District Vice President, South Saskatchewan Region. "The Scotiabank Game Changer program has recognized dozens of community heroes over the course of the CFL season, and now Canadians have the chance to vote for a winner.
