Presented by Scotiabank
In partnership with Quebecor Group
MONTREAL, April 10, 2012 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, April 10 Art Souterrain and Scotiabank will announce the 2012 Peoples Choice Award and Prix de la Vitrine Culturelle winners during a cocktail event celebrating completion of the exhibit's fourth year.
From February 25 to March 11 Art Souterrain presented a seven kilometre artistic journey through the heart of Montreal's underground passageways, offering a variety of activities including workshops, lectures and artistic performances. The majority of the exhibits featured Quebec-based artists and, for the first time, included works by talented guest artists from Paris and Calgary.
"It was important to us to partner with Art Souterrain for its fourth year of making contemporary art accessible to the Montreal community, " said Carole Chapdelaine, Scotiabank Senior Vice-President Quebec and Eastern Ontario Region. "Through the Scotiabank Bright Future program and our work with our artistic and cultural partners in Quebec and across Canada, we strive to enrich the communities where we do business and where our customers and employees live and work. "

About Art Souterrain
Art Souterrain is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to promote and exhibit contemporary art by taking the works of local and international artists out of art institutions and placing them in spaces frequented by the public at large. By doing so, Art Souterrain hopes to engage the diverse public that frequents the underground passages of Montreal and, with the help of cultural mediation initiatives, address the contemporary artworks presented during the event.
