Toronto Youth and NHL Alumni team up with Scotiabank for United Way

Annual Scotia Hope Hockey Classic engages employees in support of a great cause

TORONTO, Dec. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - Scotiabank executives are teaming up with NHL greats Gary Roberts, Wendel Clark, Curtis Joseph, Darryl Sittler and Mark Napier to join kids from Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club, Central Neighbourhood House and St. Christopher's House, local United Way sponsored agencies, in a friendly hockey game in support of Scotia Hope, Scotiabank's 2011 United Way fundraising campaign.

WHAT:            A friendly two-period hockey game between NHL Alumni, Scotiabankers and United Way agency youth to support United Way Toronto.

WHY:             Scotia Hope, Scotiabank's 2011 employee fundraising campaign for United Way encourages employees to join the effort to give hope to neighbourhoods in the GTA.  Through employee and corporate donations Scotiabank hopes to raise more than $5.7 million this year to help women, men, youth and children in our community.  This money will help address the very serious challenges of hunger and homelessness and help Canadian newcomers and youth build new lives right across the GTA.
