TORONTO, April 1 /CNW/ - The Pro Action Hockey League (PAHL), made up of youth ages 8 - 11 years of age from the Flemingdon Park area and policemen from Toronto's 53 and 54 Divisions, will be awarded the first Scotiabank GTHL New to the Game Development Grant aimed at supporting programs that attract participants from all backgrounds, to hockey in the community. Funds received will be used to further grow the league as well as the Don Mills Civitan's Donaldson Diamonds program - a hockey league for people with developmental disabilities.
In its first year, the Development Grant of $25,000 will be awarded to the PAHL on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Angela James Arena in time for the kids' hockey tournament.

WHY: | Launched earlier this year, once every hockey season the Scotiabank GTHL New to the Game Development Grant will distribute a maximum of $25,000 among GTHL organizations that demonstrate a program plan targeted at attracting new participants to hockey. The Grant enables member clubs and associations to engage and interact with their community on a new level, helping grow hockey and attract new players through the approved programs. |
