Media Advisory - Local girls to receive FREE skills training with former Olympic gold medalist Tammy Lee Shewchuk at Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest

OTTAWA, Jan. 18 /CNW/ -

WHAT:     This Friday and Saturday, hundreds of girls from Ottawa and
              surrounding communities will gather at Scotiabank Place for the
              sixth annual Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest. This FREE event,
              offered in partnership with the Ottawa Senators, provides a
              unique blend of skills training, fun and encouragement to
              inspire girls to reach for their goals on and off the ice.

    WHO:      Tammy Lee Shewchuk, (two-time gold medalist at the 2000 and
              2001 Women's World Hockey Championships and 2002 Olympic gold
               medalist)
              Players from the Ottawa Senator's women's hockey team (CWHL)
              Players from the Carleton Raven's women's hockey team
              450 novice, atom and peewee level girls (ages7 - 14 years)

    WHEN:     Friday, January 22, 2010
              5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

              9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
