Photo Op: Sneak-peak of Scotiabank Wheelchair Challenge TORONTO, May 29 /CNW/ -When: Tuesday June 2, 2009 - 10:30 am Where: Toronto Rehab's Lyndhurst Centre - Auditorium 520 Sutherland Drive - Toronto What: The Toronto Wheels In Motion Event Committee is announcing the projects that are to be funded by the upcoming Toronto Wheels In Motion event, presented by Scotiabank, Since 2003, Wheels In Motion has raised over $1.1 million and touched the lives of many people with spinal cord injury by supporting more than 25 local Quality of Life projects in Toronto.. The event will also feature a sneak-peak of the revamped Scotiabank Wheelchair Challenge, the signature event of Rick Hansen Wheels In Motion. Children from Bloorview Kids Rehab will participate in a demonstration of the challenge as it will appear at the June 14th Wheels In Motion event. The Scotiabank Wheelchair Challenge is designed to give participants a better understanding of what it is like to navigate through life using a wheelchair, and create awareness for those living with disabilities. Why: To raise awareness and funding to improve the quality of life of people with spinal cord injuries through the 7th Annual Rick Hansen Wheels In Motion, presented by Scotiabank. The event takes place on June 14, 2009 in communities across Canada. Background information:Rick Hansen Wheels In Motion brings communities together and touches the lives of thousands of Canadians with spinal cord injury every year. Funds raised support a wide range of life-enhancing initiatives that allow people with spinal cord injury to fully participate in their community and live life to its full potential. Since 2003, Wheels In Motion has raised over $9.6 million to support more than 800 quality of life projects.
