Scotiabank Changes Mortgage Rates

    TORONTO, March 10 /CNW/ - Scotiabank announced today the following
changes in the Bank's posted residential mortgage interest rates, effective
March 11, 2009:-   one-year open        7.50 per cent     (decreases by 0.25 per cent)
    -   two-year closed      5.00 per cent     (decreases by 0.15 per cent)
    -   four-year closed     5.45 per cent     (decreases by 0.24 per cent)
    -   five-year closed     5.55 per cent     (decreases by 0.24 per cent)

    Scotiabank currently offers the following special discounted rates(*) on
residential mortgage:

    -   one-year fixed closed     3.25 per cent
    -   four-year fixed closed    4.15 per cent
    -   five-year fixed closed    4.25 per cent
    -   10-year fixed closed      5.25 per cent(*) The special discounted rates are not the posted rates of Scotiabank.
