TORONTO, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - The NHL Alumni Association's 7th Annual Gala Dinner presented by Scotiabank takes place September 11th at the Westin Harbour Castle in downtown Toronto starting at 6 p.m. At the event the NHL Alumni will be celebrating "Man of the Year" Bobby Hull while also raising funds for the "Hockey's Greatest Family Fund" supporting former players in need. The NHL Alumni will also be recognizing the 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Fund. The NHL Alumni Association hosts its inaugural "Grapes with the Greats" Wine Tasting Event September 10th at 6 p.m. at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto to launch the NHL Alumni Signature Wine Series(TM). The series includes 12 bottles of wine bearing likenesses of some of hockey's legendary players. Proceeds from the sale of the wine will support various charities, including favourite causes of the featured alumni as well as the NHL Alumni Association's Hockey's Greatest Family fund, which supports former players in need. Attendees at this event include hockey greats such as Ted Lindsay, Clark Gillies and Darryl Sittler. "The NHL Alumni Signature Wine Series(TM) is an exciting new program that has come out of a collaboration of the NHL Alumni Association, Ironstone Vineyards, Artemis Sports Group and of course, some of our greatest alumni," says Mark Napier, NHL Alumni Association Executive Director and former NHL hockey player. "As well as supporting our Alumni Association charity, a portion of the proceeds will go to 11 different charities chosen by the players, so it's all for a great cause." Mr. Napier pointed out that Doug Gilmour, Darryl Sittler and Wendel Clark wines are expected to be available through the LCBO after September 27.
