The Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge expands to ten charities; goal is to surpass $1 million dollars in cumulative funds raised VANCOUVER, May 12 /CNW/ -What: Representatives and clients from ten local charities will join Scotiabank for a 1 km fun run / walk / wheel to celebrate the expansion of the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge and to mark the six-week countdown to the Tenth Annual Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon & 5k (SVHM) which takes place Sunday, June 22, 2008. Where: Ceperley Park (Second Beach Concession), Stanley Park, Vancouver, B.C. When: Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (photo opportunity at 10:10 a.m.) Why: The Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge supports ten charities that provide programs and services to hundreds of thousands of people across the province. In its nine year history, the SVHM has raised $746,000 and this year event organizers hope to surpass the $1 million mark in cumulative funds raised. To encourage participation and support for the ten charities, runners and walkers who fundraise for one of the charities will pay the reduced early bird registration fee of $25 for the 5k or $50 for the half-marathon.
