TORONTO, April 4 /CNW/ - Golf superstars Annika Sorenstam, Morgan Pressel and Alena Sharp will team up this year to host the Scotiabank Women's Charity Challenge in support of women's charities across Canada. In its third year, the golf tournament takes place on Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 at the prestigious Magna Golf Club on the Oak Ridges Moraine in Aurora, Ontario. Sorenstam is recognized as one of the finest female athletes of all time and is rated one of the best golfers on the LPGA Tour. Morgan Pressel is the youngest player in LPGA history to win a major championship. Canadian Alena Sharp has been playing golf since the age of 10 and had a very successful junior career before her first full year in the LPGA in 2006. The day will include a nine hole shotgun tournament for participants and clinic conducted by the golfing greats. The afternoon will feature a nine hole exhibition match by Sorenstam, Pressel and Sharp that will incorporate top ranked Canadian Junior girls. Scotiabank and key presenting sponsors, Fidelity Investments and KPMG, look forward to building on the $500,000 raised for charities over the previous two years that this event has been held. All proceeds benefit a host of women's charities across Canada. Recipients have included a variety of charities supporting women's shelters, employment services, treatment centres and cancer foundations nation-wide.
