TORONTO, Oct. 26 /CNW/ - Stacks of Pancakes and a line-up of hungry Bay Street-ers filled Scotiabank's lobby this morning as executives and celebrity chefs served breakfast at this year's Pancake Breakfast. The breakfast launches the 2007 Scotiabank employee fundraising campaign for United Way of Greater Toronto. "The pancake breakfast is always a warm and inviting event that brings our community together to kick off the annual United Way Campaign," said Scotiabank President and CEO, Rick Waugh. "It's great to see so many people involved in supporting a great cause. This year's employee campaign goal is to raise $5.6 million that will help people and communities across Toronto." Serving pancakes alongside Rick Waugh was Frances Lankin, President and CEO, United Way of Greater Toronto, Linda Leatherdale, Money Editor of the Toronto Sun, and many of Scotiabank's executives. Scotiabank employees and customers were invited to pick up their breakfast in the branch for a voluntary donation, with all proceeds going to United Way. "Scotiabank's fundraising campaign for United Way is always a terrific success," said Frances Lankin, President and CEO, United Way of Greater Toronto. "The continued support of Scotiabank and its employees is a testament to their generosity and commitment to helping build a better city for us all." The pancake breakfast is the first of many fundraisers planned for the year. The events showcase the spirit and dedication of Scotiabank employees who volunteer their time and energy to raise funds for United Way. Fundraising initiatives for this year include the Enbridge CN Tower Climb for United Way; the Amazing Scotia Race; and the popular Scotiabank Rat Race for United Way in the summer.
