VANCOUVER, Sept. 7 /CNW/ -What: The Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause...Walk for the Animals is the largest provincial fundraising campaign for animals. Ten thousand two-legged participants and their animal companions in 37 communities across the province will join together in a 5k walk to support the BC SPCA and homeless, abused and injured animals. Where: The flagship event for Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond will be held at Vancouver's Vanier Park, Chestnut Street and Ogden Street, Kits Point, Vancouver, B.C. When: Sunday, September 9, 2007, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Why: The walk concludes the four-month Paws for a Cause campaign which aims to raise $750,000 for homeless, abused and injured animals in BC. Approximately 2,000 animal lovers and their four-legged friends will gather in Vanier Park on Sunday, September 9th to celebrate animals and raise funds for those that are abused and neglected. Who: Four-legged and two-legged BC SPCA supporters; Randene Neill, Global TV, event emcee; Craig Daniell, CEO, BC SPCA; Dr. Stanley Coren from Global TV's Ask an Expert; David Poole, Senior Vice-President, B.C. & Yukon Region, Scotiabank; and A variety of entertainers and performers The Community Tent will feature local animal welfare groups: Furbearers Defenders, Stanley Park Ecological Society, Critter Care Wildlife Rescue, Vancouver Rabbit Rescue, Animal Relief Disaster Services, UBC Animal Welfare Programs and BC SPCA's Cruelty Investigations Team.
