Scotiabank commits $150,000 to support relief efforts in Peru

    TORONTO, Aug. 17 /CNW/ - Scotiabank announced today a $150,000 donation
to the Canadian Red Cross towards relief efforts in Peru in the aftermath of
Wednesday's earthquake.
    "Our thoughts are with the people of Peru and we hope that this donation
will help alleviate some of the misfortune suffered during this difficult
period," said Rick Waugh, Scotiabank President and CEO. "We are pleased to
support the Red Cross in their efforts to provide this much needed
assistance."
    Scotiabank Peru is the third largest bank in Peru. The Bank has a staff
