Scotiabank Appoints New Executive Vice-President for Domestic Personal Lending & Insurance

    TORONTO, July 4 /CNW/ - Scotiabank today announced that Robin Hibberd has
been appointed Executive Vice-President, Domestic Personal Lending &
Insurance, and President and CEO, Scotia Mortgage Corporation. Mr. Hibberd is
responsible for the Domestic business units that comprise consumer lending,
including mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and insurance, as well as
credit risk management and integrated business solutions. He begins his new
position on July 4, 2007, reporting to Chris Hodgson, Executive Vice-President
and Head of Domestic Personal Banking.
    A 20-year Scotiabank veteran, Mr. Hibberd is currently serving as Senior
Vice-President, Corporate Development. Prior to that, he was Senior
Vice-President, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Mr. Hibberd's overseas
service built upon six years experience in positions of increasing
responsibility in Domestic Personal Banking. He replaces Jane Rowe, who is
taking a one-year leave of absence and it is anticipated that she will return
to a new role next year.

    Mr. Hibberd is a Chartered Accountant and has a Masters in Business
Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western
Ontario.
